Giles

I'm suffering my final weeks at school ever, unless I fail styling in that case I'll have to go back and hand in some assignment next year. But don't fear I'm not leaving my perpetual "student" status for another year.

Despite having a deadline today I feel I have to share my love for Giles Deacon. I want to marry Giles Deacon. Get your freak on Giles Deacon etcetera.

He's all I want to be in the future. Not only he makes some amazing clothes and wears great glasses, he's also been a judge in Project Catwalk! (Though there's no possible comparison between Project Catwalk and Project Runway. I might make a post on that subject when I'm bored, who the hell are Julien MacDonald and Ben de Lisi?)
If all that wasn't enough to put him up in my particular Designers Olympus there's also the history of that budgerigar driving a Rolls-Royce illustration in his sketchbook, which apparently granted him a place as Bottega Veneta artistic director. Absolute brilliance if you ask me.

But the best about him (aside from his dresses) is that his favourtie movie happens to be The Muppet Movie. I'm more a fan of Muppets in Space but just for the very first scene of Kermit playing The Rainbow Connection in his banjo The Muppet Movie is well worth it.

LCF

In case anyone still doesn't know I've been accepted into the London College of Fashion and will be starting in september.
I've got classes three days a week in Shoreditch (near the best Okonomiyaki stall in London!) and both my tutor and the course director seem the nicest people around.
I am so excited, once I get my University of the Arts card I'll officially be the coolest kid in town (it's not dificult being cool in Badalona, now is it?).

This blog has been hijacked, from now on it'll appear in some sort of school initiative and I'm afraid the contents will have to go accordingly. I really don't need two useless blogs so I decided against creating a new one, so that's that :)

I have the scary college interview in a week and a half so I am dead busy tring to make it look as if I have some sort of skills, I will be posting the results of it soonish.

Oh my God, I still can not believe the Comme des Garçons for H&M thing, I have always been strongly against these huge marketing strategies and thus have always despised all of the designers collections so far. In fact it's been ages since I last bought something at H&M as I like to keep my clothes for more than two washes and theirs just seem to disintegrate in the washing machine.
I do remember that some years ago their items were of much better quality I still own and use a couple of dresses that keep up perfectly.

I think I've reached the maximum number of menswear sketches that I can do in one morning, 18 to be precise. If I had to draw a single more my head would blow up and I don't think I even like them.
It is for a fast-sketching excercise for illustration class, I used Paul Smith's s/s collection.

I have heard back from the London College of Fashion finally and have my interview in three weeks. London yay! Interview panic, not so much yay.

stars, no stripes

Apparently the huge star print is "in" this season (or so I read smewhere).

I barely ever follow trends, in fact this dress has been in my wardrobe for maybe five years, it's from the 80s (I removed the shoulder pads, yes) and my mum got it from the flea market just across the street in our unfancy old neighbourhood.

I'm 24 I just look like 15 with that haircut, tsss.

Txell Miras

Yesterday night I helped backstage as a dresser for the Txell Miras A/W 09 runway show, which was the grand opening for the new Barcelona fashion week, Barcelona 080. Taking benefit of studying in the same school that she started at.
It took place in the big fountain/monument at the Parc de la Ciutadella and despite the freezing cold and the frightened ducks getting out of the way, it was quite spectacular. Truth to be told most of us didn't quite see the show itself, because we were frantically trying to get the models changed in two minutes, but we saw the ending on a tiny tv screen from the backstage and the lighting and location were just amazing.

The collection itself is fantastic, all in her classic black, white and a touch of dark red and violet. The highly structured and carefully handcrafted garments left all of us newbies drooling over the racks.

I was asigned a gorgeous model called Godeliv and right next to me was supermodel Marina Pérez who is not only super cute but also a charming and really nice girl. I, being barely 1'62 tall, felt like a midget all evening.

Considering that our instructions were "be as quick as possible changing but please don't panic" it was hard to take pictures but I did manage to snap a few decent ones (decent considering that I didn't notice I had the macro function on).
